March 5, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) -The University of Victoria Vikes men’s golf team are currently in seventh place after the first two rounds at the The Master’s College Spring Invitational, hosted at Robinson Ranch Golf Course on March 4-5.
The Vikes complete 36 holes on day one on the par-72 course and were led by Jesse Teron (Red Deer, AB), who finished tied for 17th.
Leading the way for the teams is California Lutheran, who boast four top-10 golfers including individual leader Mikey McGinn, who 1-under-143 (73-70). Hosts Master’s College is in second place with a team score of 590, nine strokes behind California Lutheran.
The Vikes men are 12 strokes behind St. Thomas University with a team score of 613 (306-307) to finish seventh in a field of 63.
Teron finished 7-over-151 (77-74) to tie two others for 17th, while Jamie Cartwright (Canmore, AB) shot 9-over-153 (75-78) to tie for 25th.
Also competing for the Vikes were rookies Matthew Broughton (Victoria, BC) and Sean Hay (Victoria, BC), who were both 12-over-156 to tie for 34th. Alex Cartwright(Canmore, AB) shot 15-over-159 to finish in 42nd.
The Vikes will continue with their third and final round tomorrow, Mar. 5.
