Cody Sylvester sets a franchise record for most points in a single game

March 6, 2013, Saskatoon, SK (ISN) – The line of Cody Sylvester, Brady Brassart and Greg Chase combined for 14 points as the Calgary Hitmen beat the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup host Saskatoon Blades 9-5 Tuesday night at Credit Union Centre.

Sylvester led the charge with a goal and six assists setting a franchise record for most points in a single game with seven, topping the previous mark of six set on four occasions. Brad Moran had six points twice in 1998 while Pavel Brendl hit the six point mark in 1999 while Kris Beech did it in 2000.

Brassart, (2g2a), Chase (2g1a) and Jake Virtanen (2g) all scored twice for the Hitmen, who built period leads of 5-2 and 6-3, while Pavlo Padakin and Jaynen Rissling added singles.

Sylvester and Rissling both finished with a team leading plus five.

Calgary chased Blades starting goalie Andrey Makarov scoring seven goals on 31 shots. Makarov entered the game 3-0 against the Hitmen this season with a .65 goals against average and a .982 save percentage to go along with a pair of shutouts.

Calgary is now 1-1 on their three game road trip and will wrap up the swing tomorrow night in Prince Albert. Internet broadcast on www.sportsnet.ca/960 starts at 6:00 p.m. MST.

The Hitmen, third in the 12 team Eastern Conference at 41-20-1-4, then return home to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
