Timbermen Name New Head Coach

March 7, 2013, Nanaimo, BC (ISN) – The Coastal Windows Timbermen have named one of the most decorated and respected players in the sport of lacrosse as their new Head Coach.

Kaleb Toth will take over the reigns behind the Timbermen bench after spending 8 seasons with the club as a player.

The Timbermen had been in search of a new Head Coach after coach Art Webster stepped down following the 2012 season which saw the Timbermen finish in 6th place after a promising 1st half of the season. The 35 year old Toth will inherit a talented young crop of players hoping to return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2007 season. The Timbermen are confident Toth’s exceptional leadership and experience both on and off the floor will provide a calming influence for the club’s young core and be a great fit for the Timbermen moving forward.

Toth, a Calgary native moving to Nanaimo, will bring a wealth of championship experience behind the Timbermen bench winning nearly every major championship in the lacrosse world including 3 National Lacrosse League Championships, 2 Mann Cup Championships, 1 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship with Team Canada and a Minto Cup Championship with the Burnaby Junior Lakers.

Over Toth’s 8 seasons with the Timbermen he amassed 284 points in 76 games after being selected in the expansion draft in 2005 from the Victoria Shamrocks when Nanaimo returned to the WLA. During a storied NLL career Toth totaled a whopping 713 points in 186 regular season games with the Calgary Roughnecks and Toronto Rock; in addition he racked up 71 points in 20 playoff games. Known for his clutch play in big games, Toth scored one of the most famous goals in lacrosse history at storied Maple Leaf Gardens, scoring with 1 second left in the 2000 NLL Championship game lifting the Toronto Rock to a 13-12 win over the Rochester Knighthawks.

The Timbermen and Head Coach Toth open their season on the road, May 17th in Burnaby. Their first home game is scheduled for May 19th against the New Westminster Salmonbellies. For season ticket or sponsorship information contact Bill Windley at wgrockhouse@shaw.ca or 250.753.4442.
