March 8, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – After day one of the 2013 CIS Track and Field Championships three Vikes have made it through their heats and are scheduled to compete in Saturday’s 600-m finals.
DAY 1 RESULTS / CHAMPIONSHIP WEBSITE
Grace Annear (Hampton, NB), Rachel Francois (St. Albert, AB) and Adam Gaudes (Winnipeg, Man.) have all qualified for Saturday’s 600-m finals after racing in today’s 600-m heats.
Sophomore runner Annear earned a personal best today in the women’s 600-m with her qualifying time of 1:31.81. The defending CIS champion, Francois, crossed the line at 1:31.81, also earning a spot in the day three final.
On the men’s side, landing a silver medal at last year’s CIS championship in the 600-m, Gaudes will be racing in Saturday’s final with today’s time of 1:20.86.
With the 1000-m, 3000-m and 4×800-m events taking place tomorrow, Mar. 8, the Vikes will once again take to the track with the women’s 4×800-m relay team given an opportunity to break a 25-year-old CIS record, previously set by UVic in the 1987.
