March 11, 2013, Sidney, BC (ISN) – The Synergy Health Management Ltd Bazan Bay 5km road race attracted over 900 registered runners in this, the fifth race of the 2013 Island Race Series.

The conditions were cool and overcast with no wind and a relatively flat out and return course along Lochside Drive leading to the expectation of a fast pace.

Although part of a larger series, the 5km event held in Sidney is often used as a training marker for those preparing for the Times Colonist 10Km Road Race at the end of April. For this reason, and possibly partly due to the deliciously acclaimed after race brunch, the event draws a large number of entrants from the Island and lower mainland.
