March 11, 2013, Courtenay, BC (ISN) – The Comox Valley Glacier Kings are pleased to announce that Affiliate Player, Liam Shaw, from the Comox Valley will permanently join the line up.
Shaw was called up by the ‘Kings several times throughout the season and had the biggest offensive production out of all affiliates. Shaw, who was recalled from the North Island Silvertips of the B.C. Major Midget League, produced 11 goals and 12 assists, for 23 points in 40 games in his second season with the North Island’s top midget team.
A native of the Comox Valley, Shaw makes the official transition from a lifelong Glacier Kings fan to a full time member of the organization.
Head Coach of the Comox Valley Glacier Kings, Bill Rotheisler, is excited to see Shaw in the blue and burgundy, “This was the logical next step for both Liam and the organization. Not only is Liam a talented young player, his contagious character and pride for this particular club is unprecedented. “Rotheisler went on, “He is going to be a big part of this organization continuing on.”
When asked about joining the squad, Shaw said “I’ve been watching this team since I was six years old. To be able to join this club at this stage in the season, it’s a dream come true.”
In seven games, with the Glacier Kings this season, Shaw scored 3 goals and 1 assist.
Game four of the North Island Division Finals is Tuesday night at the Comox Valley Sports Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
