March 13, 2013 (ISN) – The Victoria Racquet Club Kings Peewee Tier 1 team has punched their ticket to the BC Hockey Provincials to be held at UBC March 17–19, 2013, with a 13-3 victory over Nanaimo to win the Vancouver Island Playoffs.
The Kings have had a phenomenal season to date, going undefeated in regular season and playoff action against Vancouver Island opponents. They add to their success with a 2nd place showing in the Kelowna Jr. Rockets Tournament and followed that up with a 3rd place finish at the prestigious Bell Capital Cup held in Ottawa, Ontario.

Head coach Kevin Craig credited a strong work ethic, dedication to the game and a balanced attack for the team’s success.

“Hard work is something we demand from the boys, both in practice and games. The nucleus of this team have been together for 5 or 6 years so they know one another pretty well and they are all 2nd year Peewee with the exception of a couple” explained Craig, “we are a very well rounded team, with lots of depth we don’t really rely on one or two players to carry the load.”
The teams record so far is 31-7-2 with 158 goals for and 85 goals against.

A little redemption will be on their minds at the Provincials as two of the teams they will face in the round robin have defeated the Kings this season.
Best of luck to the boys and bring that banner home to the Island.
