March 19, 2013, Vancouver Island (ISN) – The first race of the Island Cup Mountain Bike Series took place at the Mount Work, Hartland on Sunday, hosted by ProCity Cycling.

117 Riders in three categories; beginner, intermediate and expert tackled 2, 3 or 4 laps respectively of this classic cross country course.  The course included single track with mud, fire track with mud, forest with mud covered tree roots, rock outcrops with mud at the bottom.

The course also included a river crossing which cleaned competitors bikes ready for the next mud covered lap. In fact, due to heavy rainfall a slight alteration to the course was made just prior to race day (perhaps from fear of too much mud?).
