March 19, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The University of Victoria Vikes are pleased to announce that they will again partner with 100.3 The Q and The Zone 91.3 in order to host TLC Fund for Kids camps on April 6.
The two camps, a basketball camp and cross-country and track and field camp, will be led by Vikes basketball and cross-country and track staff, coaches and players with all proceeds from the event going towards the TLC Fund for Kids.
“This time around we’re running both a basketball and a cross-country and track component so it gives kids a bit more exposure to some of the great things that the Vikes are doing,” said Doug Marin, account manager at 100.3 The Q. “We really appreciate working with the Vikes and the money that we get fills in a lot of gaps where other organizations don’t really help.”
The TLC Fund for Kids was established in October 1988 as a means of raising funds for any not-for-profit organizations in the Capital Regional District that dedicate themselves to children’s health, happiness and betterment of life.
The Vikes are proud to promote and contribute to youth involvement in sport and in keeping with the Vikes’ lengthy tradition of excellence, the Vikes track teams won two gold medals and two bronze at the 2013 CIS Track and Field Championships while the men’s basketball team finished sixth in the country at the 2013 CIS Final 8.
The two camps are for kids aged seven to fourteen and will run Apr. 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with lunch provided after each camp. As a part of the registration fee of $25 participants will also receive a t-shirt. Please note that there is a maximum of 150 participants and registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
