March 21, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – It was the 5th and final game in the first round of the BCHL playoffs between the Victoria Grizzlies and the Powell River Kings, each team skating onto the ice with two wins under their belts.
The game took place at Bear Mountain Arena in Victoria in front of 1,180 spectators, all of whom were holding their breath as the game went into overtime with the scoreboard displaying a total of two goals a piece.

Brady Rouleau was in net for the Grizzlies and Jonah Imoo was in for the Kings. Both teams went into Wednesday night’s game quite evenly matched, and shots on net stayed relatively par throughout the forty minutes of play. The Grizzlies first opening goal had everyone on their feet but it was waved off as officials noted that it had been kicked in, it was dubbed a no-goal and the game remained scoreless after twenty minutes.

At 2:41 into the second period, the Grizzlies got their opportunity back when DJ Jones scored a power play goal on Imoo getting the fans going as well as getting his team on the board.

At the 12:15 mark, the Kings Teagan Waugh evened things out when he buried the puck in behind Rouleau. It was Grizzlies Jaden Schmeisser who would answer back at 18:30, getting the chance to score the go-ahead goal and ending the period with the Grizzlies in the lead 2-1.

The third period started out with both teams blazing and the Kings got their opportunity to tie the game. JP Villeneuve beat Rouleau changing the scoring to 2-2, a good effort was played from both sides throughout the period sending the game into overtime.

It was a tense fourth period and it wasn’t just the players that were feeling it. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as the next goal didn’t materialize until 13:52 into overtime. The action unfolded when the Grizzlies Captain, Zach Urban scored an unassisted goal sending the arena into a frenzy, moving his team on to the second round. This play took the Powell River Kings out of the playoffs and sent them packing, with the final score of 3-2 Grizzlies.
