March 20, 2013, Vancouver, BC (ISN) –  Rugby today announced the additional programs and opportunities to be included in the revamped provincial 15-a-side player pathway.

With the addition of B2Gold Provincial Regional Championship opportunities for both the True Blue Under-15 Boys and Under-17 Men’s teams, the pathway will engage male athletes at every age grade from U14 boys through U19 men in representative rugby. Combined with additional programs for our women’s athletes (details to follow on U20 and U16 additions), over 300 athletes will pull on the provincial jersey this summer.

British Columbia will host this year’s Age Grade National Festival Championship at UBC in August, which will see BC’s U16 and U18 men’s teams look to defend their titles on home soil. An addition to the U18 national division is the TrueBlue U17 men’s provincial team.

The primary selection tool for BC’s U18, U17 and U16 provincial programs – the B2Gold Provincial Regional Championships – are slated for July 5-7at UBC. The summer calendar will also see the introduction of the first ever U15 B2Gold PRC’s which will also be held in Vancouver two weeks prior on the weekend of June 22-23rd.

BC’s U19 men’s program will look to defend their national title this year at the Junior Canadian Rugby Championships in Calgary in the third week of July. Graduates of the provincial age grade pathway will then look to test themselves against senior competition as the British Columbia senior men’s provincial team prepares for the upcoming 2013 CRC.

Provided below are the opportunities and programs available for each age grade during the 2013 summer season. For more information contact BC Provincial Coach and Development Manager Dave Brown (
