March 26, 2013, Prince George, BC (ISN) – The Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) are excited to announce the commitment of defencman Danny Kiraly to the team for the 2013-14 season.

Danny Kiraly is a ’95 born 6′ 1″ 180 pound defenceman from Glendale, Arizona. Kiraly is an offensive defenseman with tremendous skating ability. He has been selected to the US National Hockey Camp for the top two hundred players, once for each position. He has played the past two seasons with the Phoenix Junior Coyotes team finishing with 35 points (12 goals, 23 assists) in 78 games with 83 penalty minutes.

“I’m very excited and happy for the opportunity to play for the Prince George Spruce Kings,” said Danny Kiraly on the phone from his home in Arizona. “They are a very good hockey team that is well coached and they move a lot of players on to NCAA Division I hockey.”

“I was a forward and I actually transitioned back to defence two years ago,” explained Kiraly. “I mixed the two styles together between forward and defence, so yes I can say easily that I am an offensive defenceman.”

In his transition from forward to defence, Kiraly has shown good offensive abilities and is capable of breaking pucks out on his own. He is extremely strong on his skates and has tremendous one-on-one skills.

“I was able to watch Danny play in Minnesota,” stated Spruce Kings assistant coach, Colton Buffie. “Danny was one of the premiere defensemen there. His skating, puck handling skill and overall ability put him a notch above the other players there.”

“It’s an exciting day for the Spruce Kings organization when we can add a player of Danny’s ability and character,” said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. “Danny will be an exciting player for our team for the next couple of seasons.”

Kiraly will spend the off-season preparing for his debut with the Prince George Spruce Kings working with his personal trainer over the summer. Kiraly becomes the second new commitment for the team joining Braiden Epp. The Spruce Kings will be holding their annual Spring Prospects Camp at the Prince George Coliseum from April 12-14.
