Championship Series Resume Tonight

March 28, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria Cougars host the Comox Valley Glacier Kings in Game 3 of the 2013 VIJHL Finals tonight. Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.

Victoria currently leads the best-of-seven Championship Series 2-0 following wins of 6-3 and 9-3.

Sam Rice of the Cougars has been the hottest player in the series, collecting six goals and posting one assist. The playoff scoring co-leader is coming off back-to-back hat tricks. Rice, along with teammate Dane Feeney, sits atop of the leader board with 29 points apiece.

Pacing Comox Valley in scoring is Jack Kennelly who leads the team with a pair of goals and assists for four points.

Evan Roch has a 3.00 goals against average and a .875 save percentage in the series.

Meanwhile, Michael Hails, who has been pulled in each of his last two starts, enters Game 3 with a 7.59 G.A.A. and a .792 S.P. in the series. Backup Bryce Di Rocco has a 7.32 G.A.A. and a .800 S.P.

Victoria is 6-for-20 on the power play; meanwhile, the Glacier Kings are 2-for-11.

Shots on goal through two games favour the Cougars 73-48.

Game 4 goes Saturday night in Courtenay.

The Cougars, Comox Valley, and the Richmond Sockeyes of the PJHL have all qualified for the Cyclone Taylor Cup which runs from April 11-14.

However, the KIJHL representative is still yet to be decided. Currently, the Castlegar Rebels have a 2-0 series lead over the North Okanagan Knights with Game 3 of 7 scheduled for tomorrow.

Cyclone Taylor Cup tickets will be available at tonight’s game.
