March 28, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria HarbourCats baseball club unveiled their new mascot “Harvey” to the public today and announced Julie MacDonald as the winner of the Name the Mascot Contest.
“Harvey” was unveiled to the public at the Hotel Rialto in the company of fellow mascots Marty the Marmot, Striker Highlander, and Thunder from UVic.
The name “Harvey” was one of the more frequently submitted names in the HarbourCats mascot naming contest and Grand Prize winner MacDonald, who will receive a pair of season tickets, was choosen from a drawing of all people who submitted the name. Also winning 10-game flex packs were runners up Aniko Varga and Maggie Hayes.

Harvey will now embark on a vigorous public relations schedule in advance of the HarbourCats home opener on June 5th and is already slated to appear at a number of community and minor baseball events. About the Victoria HarbourCats
The Victoria HarbourCats are Victoria’s entry in the West Coast League. The WCL is a college-level, wood-bat baseball league with 11 teams from the Pacific Northwest that feature elite level college players from across North America.
