March 28, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The University of Victoria Vikes have announced their nominees for the 2012-13 major awards which will be handed out in one week, Wed. April 3rd, at the annual Celebration of Champions banquet at the Victoria Conference Centre.
The Celebration of Champions recognizes the outstanding individual and team accomplishments from the past varsity season.
Major individual awards to be distributed include the Provost Award for Excellence, Robert T. Wallace Shield Rookie of the Year awards, Chancellor’s Award, Publisher’s Award, Male and Female Athletes of the Year and the President’s Cup.
The UVic Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2013 will also be inducted at the banquet. This year’s inductees include two athletes, Silverado Socrates (Cross-Country and Track) and Nicci Wright (Women’s Soccer), and one builder, Dr. Derek Ellis (Cross-Country and Track). MORE INFO

Provost Award for Excellence
This award is presented to a returning varsity student-athlete with the highest academic average who has satisfied the minimum requirements for acclamation as an Academic All-Canadian based on the previous year.
