April 3, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The seventh race in the Frontrunners Island Race Series – Merville 15K – will take place on Sunday, April 7 at 11 am.
The race will start and finish at Merville Community Hall, 1245 Fenwick Road, Merville, and is hosted by the River Runners.
Runners can register online until midnight, Wednesday April 3 at www.vira.bc.ca, or on race day. Race registration until April 3 is $25 for adults and $20 for students. Race day fees are $35 and $30 for students.
“This is the 23rd year that the River Runners has hosted the race and over 470 runners have signed up this year,” says Race Director, Linda Nagle. “The course is fast and scenic and we expect Nick Walker and Claire Morgan to be contenders for top male and female.”
After six races Prairie Inn Harriers lead the Island Series club standings, with Bastion Running Club second and Comox Valley Road Runners third. Geoff Martinson and Jen Millar lead the individual standings.
Eight races make up the Frontrunners Island Race Series. Merville 15K will be followed by the final race – Sooke River 10K on April 21. All races are sanctioned by BC Athletics.
