April 3, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – April is here, and only a few regular season matches remaining for most of the squads (1 for the Valhallians, 2 for the Academy, 2 for the thirds, and the women have 3).

This weekend, the women travel to Capilano. The Valhallians have 1st place wrapped up, and finish the regular season Saturday with a trip to Cowichan. The Academy squad are away to Nanaimo. The 3rds have the only home game of the weekend, Sunday at 1pm hosting Nanaimo.

Victoria Introduction to Competition Coaching Course scheduled to start April 3rd

VICTORIA – Vancouver Island Regional Coach Shane Thompson will be facilitating the upcoming ‘Introduction to Competition’ Coaching Course, with the first session scheduled for April 3rd. Upon completing the course, participants will be fully qualified to coach any team in a structured competition.

Introduction to Competition Course Info

Start Date: Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013

Session Dates: April 10th, 17th, 24th and May 5th

Time: 6:30pm-9:30pm

Minimum number of registrants required: 8

Location: TBC – Victoria

Expected Outcomes

Coaches completing the Introduction to Competition Course will be:

– Trained in athlete development processes in Training to Train and Training to Compete stages of Athlete Development

– Trained in Making Ethical Decisions

– Trained in Planning a Practice

– Trained in Providing Support to Athletes in Training (Confidence in Contact and Safety in Rugby )

– Trained in Analyzing Performance

– Trained in Game Understanding at an intermediate level (individual and unit skills, strategies and tactics)

The fee for the course is $210 ($200 + GST) and is payable to BC Rugby.
