Oil Kings Topple Tabbies In Game 3

April 9, 2013, Edmonton, AB (ISN) – The Edmonton Oil Kings tallied 1:39 into the first period and never looked back as they scored a 9-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Tuesday.

The Game 3 win gives the Oil Kings a 3-0 series lead in their Eastern Conference Semi-final.

Phoenix Coyotes prospect Henrik Samuelsson, Rangers prospect Michael St.Croix and Oilers prospect Marty Gernat each tallied a pair of goals in the blow out. Travis Ewanyk, Trevor Cheek and Cody Corbett notched the other Oil Kings goals. An amazing 15 out of 18 Oil Kings players found the score sheet.

Logan McVeigh scored the Tigers first goal 2:45 into the third period to break the shutout bid of Oil Kings goaltender Laurent Brossoit. Brossoit posted 25 saves en route to his 7th win of the 2013 post-season. The Calgary Flames prospect leads the WHL with a 0.85 goals against average and a 0.966 save percentage. The Oil Kings netminder has only allowed three goals against in the last five games between these two clubs.

The Tigers Curtis Valk would tally a late power play marker. Edmonton finished the game 3 for 7 with the man advantage while holding the Tigers power play to 1 for 8. The power play goal against was the first allowed by the Oil Kings in the 2013 WHL Playoffs.

The Oil Kings will look to punch their ticket to the Conference Championship in Game 4 of their second round series Wednesday, April 10th.
