The conference final will start with Game 1 on Friday, April 19 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 7 p.m., with Game 2 the following night, Saturday, April 20, also at 7 p.m. in the Coliseum.
Their opponent will either be the Kamloops Blazers or Kelowna Rockets, pending the outcome of that series.
Mac Carruth turned away all 30 Spokane shots he faced to pick up his second shutout of the series and fifth of his postseason career, extending his franchise record. Carruth allowed just three goals in the four games of the series.
Chase De Leo opened the scoring 10:53 into the game to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Later in the period while killing a penalty, Taylor Peters was sprung on a breakaway and scored shorthanded at the 13:05 mark to give Portland a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Less than two minutes into the second, Ty Rattie scored a power play goal to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead they took into the third period. It was Rattie’s 41st career postseason goal, tying him with Reg Leach (Flin Flon, 1967-70) for second in league history.
