April 11, 2013, Medicine Hat, AB (ISN) – Henrik Samuelsson and Griffin Reinhart tallied goals 39 seconds apart to rally the Oil Kings to a thrilling 4-2 come from behind win over the Tigers on Wednesday.
The Game 4 victory completed the second round sweep for the Oil Kings who advance to the Eastern Conference Championship series for the second year in a row.
Samuelsson notched the game tying goal with under eight minutes to play in the third period. The recently signed Phoenix Coyotes first round pick would add an empty net goal in the final minute for his sixth tally of the post-season. Trevor Cheek scored the opening goal for Edmonton.
Hunter Shinkaruk and Boston Leier scored the Tiger’s goals and former Oil King Cam Lanigan had 38 saves in the loss.
Oil Kings goaltender Laurent Brossoit posted 32 saves in the victory to raise his record to 8-0-1 in the 2013 WHL Playoffs. Brossoit leads the WHL with a 0.97 GAA and a 0.963 save percentage.
Edmonton’s next two playoff home dates in the Eastern Conference Championship series against the winner of the Calgary Hitmen-Red Deer Rebels series are confirmed for Rexall Place Thursday, April 18th and Friday, April 19th. Both games will start at 7:00 p.m.
