April 18, 2013, Prince Albert SK (ISN) – Prince Albert Raiders goaltender Luke Siemens has committed to the University of Alberta for the fall of 2013.

The Delta, British Columbia product finished his overage season with the Raiders with a 2.89 goals against average and single season franchise records with a .912 save percentage, 66 games played, 1890 saves and 3784 minutes played.

The 5’11”, 180-pound netminder was named the Raiders Most Valuable Player for the regular season, as well as Playoff MVP after posting a 2.78 goals against average and .917 save percentage in the Raiders first round series with the Red Deer Rebels.

Siemens appeared in 146 career games in the WHL, starting his career with the Prince George Cougars. He spent a season with the Everett Silvertips followed by a year with the Moose Jaw Warriors before being acquired by the Raiders in May 2012.

“It is a great honour to be joining the U of A program,” said Siemens. “I am thrilled to become part of their tradition of excellence and pursue both my dreams of becoming a professional hockey player and receiving a great education.”

Siemens will join the reigning Canada West champion Golden Bears hockey team in September and plans on studying business.
