April 22, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Pacific Coast Swimming is hosting the 10th annual Wavemaker Invitational Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28.
Swimmers aged 8-19 will be using this event to improve their times in hopes of qualifying for the upcoming Vancouver Island Regional Championships, as well as the BC AA and BC AAA Championships.
The meet is at capacity with 350 swimmers attending from throughout BC as well as Alberta and the United States.
This is a great opportunity for local media to highlight young Victoria and Island athletes. Swimming is a very popular sport on the Island and it rarely gets the attention that some other sports get. In total, 244 Island youth will be competing from Campbell River, Comox, Courtenay, Ladysmith, Chemainus, Nanaimo, Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Port Alberni and, Victoria.

Heats: 10am – 2:30pm
Finals: 6pm – 8:30pm
Saturday, April 27
Heats: 9am – 1pm
Finals: 5pm – 7:30pm
Sunday, April 28
Heats: 8:30am – 1:30pm
Finals: 4:30pm – 6:30pm
