April 24, 2013, Victoira, BC (ISN) – The University of Victoria Vikes women’s golf teams are on the road this weekend with their eyes on the Association of Independent Institutions conference championship title.

Senior Megan Woodland, who earned the individual title in 2012, will be looking to repeat her performance to book a ticket to the NAIA national championship.

The tournament will run from Apr. 29-30 in Houston Texas at the Club at Colony Creek in Victoria, Texas.

The overall individual winner, as well as the winning team, will automatically earn a spot to the NAIA national championship, hosted in Lincoln, Nebraska from May 21-24. Last year Woodland stole the show with a first-place score of 148 (76-72) and went on to win the NAIA national individual title with a score of 292 (73-70-76-73).

In addition to Woodland, the Vikes will send an experienced team of Michaela Abey, Brynn Tomie, Michaela Misener and Emily Nicol to the 2013 A.I.I. championship.
