April 25, 2013, Ottawa, ON (ISN) – Canada will face Turkey in three matches next month in Gatineau and Kingston, Ont., in an important tune-up for the World League men’s volleyball tournament which starts two weeks later.

The matches are scheduled for May 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. at the national training centre in Gatineau and Saturday May 18 at 4 p.m. at Queen’s University in Kingston. The Canadian men’s team is hosting the Turkish national squad for training and the matches from May 13-19.

“These matches will be a great preparation for the World League and an opportunity to fine-tune our team,” said Canada’s head coach Glenn Hoag. “While Turkey is not in the World League they are preparing for the European Championships. They have a young talented team.”

Canada ranked 18th in the world, will kick-off the World League tournament at the Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City with two matches against the Netherlands on May 31-June 1. The Canadians play their four other home matches at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ont.: against Portugal June 7-8 and South Korea June 14-15.
