April 27, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – As the excitement began to mount and the swimmers took their mark, parents, coaches and fellow competitors were cheering on the sidelines at the 2013 Wavemaker Meet at the Commonwealth in Victoria today.

Swimmers from Campbell River, Comox, Courtenay, Ladysmith, Chemainus, Nanaimo, Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Port Alberni and, Victoria are all competing for a chance to qualify for the upcoming Vancouver Island Regional Championships.  Swimmers will also have a chance to qualify for the BC AA and BC AAA Championships.

Hard work, dedication and months of training all come down to a matter of 1/100 of a second which can make all the difference to a competitive swimmer.  It is all about timing when you are in the pool, from your entry off the blocks, to the number of breaths, the number of strokes as well as your turn and push off the wall.  All of these components put together will ultimately decide who will reach the podium.

Congratulations to all of the competitors who competed today at the 2013 Wavemaker Meet hosted by Pacific Coast Swimming.
