April 28, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Highlanders are excited to announce the signing of striker Brett Levis. Levis previously played at the collegiate level for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

The Saskatoon native finished second in scoring in the CIS West, finishing with 9 goals and 6 assists and proving to be an effective striker. He led the Huskies in a campaign that ended with the University of Saskatchewan winning bronze in the Canada West Championship and Levis being named Second Team All-Canada.

“He’s a very dynamic attacking player; highly regarded in the CIS by players and coaches alike,” said Highlanders head coach Steve Simonson, “I believe he’ll be a great asset to an already strong attacking ability on our team. I’m very excited to have Brett join the club and in working with him to gel into the team.”

Standing at 5’8″ and weighing in at 155 pounds, the new 20 year old Levis had four goals in his rookie season with the Huskies. Before the Huskies, Levis was in the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League playing with the Saskatoon Accelerators. He’s spent six years with Team Saskatchewan and has spent three years at the National Training Centre.

“I’m very excited to have this opportunity to play with the Highlanders. I’ve heard a lot about them lately and am getting more and more anxious to get out to Victoria and see what it’s like,” said Levis, “This will be my first time playing PDL so I’m looking forward to the high level of competition.”

After finishing up his second year at the University of Saskatchewan, the 20 year old Levis brings his lethal scoring touch to the city of Victoria as the Highlanders’ 2013 PDL season is set to take off.
