May 8, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The home opener victory for the Victoria Highlanders FC featured a four-point night from midfielder Brett Levis who tallied a goal and two assists in the 3-0 victory.

The performance earned the striker Bayview Place’s Man of the Match honours. Levis’ multiple point game included assists on goals by forwards Tommy Mallette and Jordie Hughes.

“His first game with the club he showed all his soccer qualities,” says Men’s Assistant Coach and Director of Youth Development Neil Sedgwick, “He showed his ability to go one-on-one as well as his defending abilities within our defensive structure and he immediately became a crowd favorite because of his ability to attack the centres.”

The 5’8, 155 pound striker was signed to the Highlanders this offseason and brought with him an offensive scoring touch that netted him nine goals and six assists in his second season with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. The Huskies third-place finish in Canada West also saw him named to the Second-Team All-Canadian roster.

“We certainly hope he continues to play as freely as he does,” says Sedgwick. “As well as fit more closely into the team structure as the season continues, he’s an important piece.”
