WLA Opens 2013 Season in Burnaby and Victoria This Friday

May 13, 2013, (ISN) – The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) opens the 2013 regular season on two fronts in Burnaby and Victoria on Friday May 17.

The Burnaby Lakers play host to the Nanaimo Timbermen at 7:00 PM at Bill Copeland Arena in Burnaby. In 2012, Burnaby posted a 9-7-2 record, good for 4th place and the final playoff spot, while Nanaimo finished with a record of 6-11-1 in sixth place. Burnaby won the 2012 regular season series with 2 wins and a tie.

In the second game, the Victoria Shamrocks host the Coquitlam Adanacs at 7:45 PM at Bear Mountain Arena in Victoria. In 2012, Victoria (11-7) finished in second place, two points ahead of the Adanacs (10-8). The Adanacs won the regular season series 2 games to 1 and went on to defeat the Shamrocks in the first round of the 2012 WLA playoffs in five games.
