May 16, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Seattle Sounders U-23 Squad is the PDL affiliate of the Sounders’ MLS team.

They’re led by head coach and general manager Darren Sawatzky who helped them to a Northwest Division best record of 11-3-2. They fell in the PDL semi-finals 3-2 to the Forest City London.

The Sounders have recently announced the signing of keeper Earl Edwards from UCLA. He brings from his time with the Bruins the experience of being a team captain and a confident swagger. He played fifteen games and finished 10-3-2. He was a member of the United States U-20 team in the CONCACAF Championship tournament. Ben Dragavon and Zac Lubin will be backing him up.

Chris Brundage, Michael Harris, Ian Lange, Mark Lee, Steve Mohn, Nick Raskasky and Justin Soloman.

The defense will be missing DeAndre Yedlin now that he’s moved up and now plays for the Sounders’ MLS team. Chris Brundage and Mark Lee return for both their second season on the Sounder U-23 squad. Lee has been named multiple times to the All-Western Conference Team and can play anywhere in the back of the field. Steve Mohn played every minute for the Kitsap Pumas, including the U.S. Open Cup.

Jake Ambrozic, Lucas Baldin, Stefan Bangsund, Miles Byass, Machael David, Mauricio DeLeon, Chase Hanson, Michael Gallagher, Aodhan Quinn, Jordan Schweitzer, Eric Stevenson, Austin Sweeney and Blake Wise.

Sweeney and Schweitzer are both Seattle Sounders Academy products who are looking to join the team and be able to contribute. Machael David is a man who has overcome great odds to become a football player in North America and has a fire about his game. Aodhan Quinn returns after notching six goals and three assists last season.

Abdul Aman, David Geno and Darwin Jones.

David Geno arrives from East Tennessee State and in the US Open Cup match against Doxa Italia he scored four goals, along with newcomer Abdul Aman from North Sound who tallied five goals last year. Darwin Jones returns after putting up four goals and two assists last season.

The Sounders U-23 squad looks dangerous this season with an experienced backfield that have developed chemistry and an attack lead by David Geno who has found the back of the net often and early this year. They look to repeat their first place finish in the Northwest Division.
