May 22, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – For the second straight time, the Highlanders midfield has been given the honour.
The recognition should come at no surprise as three games into the Premier Development League season, Levis ranks second in league in scoring with eight points. He tallied four of those points in Sunday’s bout against the Seattle Sounders with a pair of consecutive goals to open the scoring.
The first goal came in the 22nd minute on Sunday off a throw in by Gavin Barrett on the left side of the field which Levis took, dribbled through two defenders and put into the far low corner of the net from the corner of the 18 yard box.
The second goal Levis scored was in the 32nd minute. After picking up the ball during broken play on the field he brought up to the baseline on the right side of the goal, danced through the box and snuck it short side with his left foot.
“The second one was absolute brilliance,” said Head Coach Steve Simonson, “A huge individual effort down the right side. It gave our team a cushion and the confidence to go on to win it. He was keeping the Seattle defenders on edge the entire game.”
The Highlanders are off to a torrid start to the season, going 3-0-0, and Brett’s offense has been a contributing factor. They look to carry on the streak this Saturday against the North Sound SeaWolves. 7pm at Royal Athletic Park.
