May 23, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Canadian Sport Institute invites athletes between the ages of 15-22 to test their capacity for sport performance at PODIUM SEARCH on Sunday, May 26 at 12:30pm at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE).
Those who perform exceedingly well may be contacted for further assessment and an offer to enroll in one of several Talent Development Programs, including Canadian Sport School.
Back for its second year, PODIUM SEARCH is a free, half-day talent identification camp offering athletes basic physiological and anthropometric test results to measure how they stack up against national team standards. Assessments include the vertical jump test, medicine ball throw, and 30 metre sprint run among other drills. Each participant will walk away with a copy of their test scores and a good understanding of what it takes to become part of Canada’s sporting elite.
In addition to the testing events, athletes will also have the chance to hear from keynote speaker Jeremiah Brown. Part of the silver medal winning mens 8+ rowing team from London 2012, Brown will share his thoughts on what it takes to compete against the best in the world, and his long journey to get to the top.
