Brianne Theisen and Damian Warner win in Gotzis; Canadians sweep podium at IAAF World Combined Events Challenge

May 26, 2013, (ISN) – Brianne Theisen of Humboldt, Sask., finished first in the heptathlon while Damian Warner of London, Ont., took first in the decathlon today at the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) Hypo-Meeting in Gotzis, Austria. Theisen won the seven-event competition with a score of 6376 points.

In the ten-event decathlon Warner was crowned champion with 8307 points. Both performances are World Championship A standards for qualification to the 2013 World Championships in Athletics to be held later this summer in Moscow, Russia.

Massimo Bertocchi of Toronto, Ont., finished seventh in the decathlon with a score of 7878 points.
