May 29, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Peninsula Co-op Highlanders are proud to announce the signing of Central Back Jaymie Cawley.
The 16-year-old stands five foot-eleven and made her Pacific Coast Development League (PCSL) debut in the Highlanders’ most recent road trip in which they were short-handed but still managed to walk away with two ties. Cawley travelled with a team that was missing seven regulars and was able to step up and showcase her abilities despite even with limited experience playing at that level.
“She showed she can handle it,” said Head Coach Dave Dew. “She graduates grade twelve this year and she’ll play for us this summer. In the fall she’ll be off to university and then hopefully back to play for us in the summers.”
Cawley creates a big presence in the backfield and has shown she can keep up in the PCSL. She looks to develop as a player with the Highlanders and has a bright future ahead of her.
