June 3, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – For the second straight consecutive week Hughes has been named because of his offensive abilities. In the Victoria Highlanders’ first loss of the season in a 5-3 defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23’s, Jordie netted two goals.
Jordie’s first goal opened the scoring in Saturday’s match and came off a great through pass by Brett Levis which he took and then snuck it short side in the 9th minute. His second goal opened scoring in the second half, at the 56th minute mark to give the Highlanders a 3-2 lead after creating room for himself and putting it high in the corner.
Scoring on two of his three shots Jordie has now converted on 33% of his shots on the season, with six goals on eighteen shots. He leads the team with goals and is tied with Brett Levis for first on the team with twelve points apiece.
Hughes has been the picture of steady play for the Highlanders this season who are now 3-1-1. He looks to add to his four game scoring streak this Saturday when the Highlanders host the Washington Crossfire, 7:15 at Royal Athletic Park.
