June 23, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The more fans get to know the 2013 Victoria HarbourCats, the more they’re going to learn how resilient the team can be. After a rough 5-1 loss on Friday, the HarbourCats put a complete team effort forward on their way to a bounce back 6-1 victory at Royal Athletic Park.

After getting 3 1st inning runs put on them Friday night, the HarbourCats turned the tables on Saturday with 3 of their own, all coming on a 2-out, 3-run home run from Robby Nesovic. Nesovic was the pitcher who gave up the 3 runs on Friday, and the chance to give the Elks some payback felt good.
“It was really good payback. During the season, I actually hit 3 of my home runs after I had a bad outing,” said Nesovic

The real star of the show was starter Ty Provencher, making his first start since last summer. Provencher cruised through the Elks’ order with just 91 total pitches, notching the first complete game in team history. In the 9 innings, Provencher only allowed 5 hits, 1 earned run, 0 walks and 3 strikeouts.

“We had a pinch count of 60, but when he got out there, he had about 50 after 5 and he felt good so we kept him going and he felt fine. He showed that he could continue to pitch and I think he got stronger in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings,” said Pitching Coach Ben Jackson.

The win sets Victoria up for a chance at another series win tomorrow afternoon at 1:05. The HarbourCats have still not lost a series this season. Scott Kuzminsky will take the mound for Victoria tomorrow, looking to send the HarbourCats into their 5-day break on a high note.
