Victoria to open home schedule on Saturday, September 21st versus Vancouver!

June 26, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria Royals are proud to announce the team’s schedule for the 2013-14 Western Hockey League season.

The Royals, for the third straight year, will kick off the season with a home-and-home set against the Vancouver Giants. Victoria will host the back half of the series at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Saturday, September 21st. Puck drop for the Royals’ home opener is set for 7:05 p.m. The regular season will open for Victoria on Friday, September 20th at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.

The Royals will have three separate five-game homestands next season that all mark the longest home stretches for the club. The first set will begin on Sunday, October 6th and conclude on October 16th and will feature dates with the Tri-City Americans, Lethbridge Hurricanes and Prince George Cougars. Victoria will host the Kelowna Rockets, Red Deer Rebels and Edmonton Oil Kings for five games between Friday, October 25th and Wednesday, November 6th. The final five-game stretch at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre will take place in 2014 between Friday, January 10th and Tuesday, January 21st when the Portland Winterhawks, Kelowna Rockets and Medicine Hat Tigers all come to the island.

Victoria’s longest road trip of the season will see the club play seven games over a 16 day period as the team makes its biannual visit to Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The trip will start on Saturday, February 15th in Prince Albert with a game against the Raiders. The road swing continues with games against the Moose Jaw Warriors, Brandon Wheat Kings, Regina Pats, and Saskatoon Blades before finishing with two games in Prince George against the Cougars.
