July 5, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria HarbourCats are thrilled to announce that Hall of Fame General Manager Pat Gillick will be coming to Victoria for a host of appearances around the 2013 WCL All-Star Game Presented by Yates Street Taphouse.
Holly Jones said, “We are so excited to be able to bring a baseball legend like Pat Gillick to Victoria. We feel this is a huge opportunity for WCL players, fans and staff to learn from one of the best baseball minds in history, and we are excited to be able to make that happen in Victoria for the All-Star Game.”
Pat Gillick has been inducted into both the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 and the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 24, 2011. Throughout his career he was the General Manager of four different teams including the Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners and Philadelphia Phillies. He won the World Series three times in his career, first with the Blue Jays in 1992 and 1993 and later with the Phillies in 2008. He was also named The Sporting News’ Sportsman of the Year in 1993 after winning back-to-back championships with the Blue Jays.
Gillick will be speaking at three events during July 22nd and 23rd. Two events will be by invitation only, but one special presentation will be open exclusively to HarbourCats Season Ticket holders.
