Canada suffers 5th loss in 6 games

July 13, 2013, KAZAN, Russia (Team Canada) – Canada suffered its fifth loss in six contests at the Universiade men’s water polo tournament on Saturday, dropping a 9-3 decision to Montenegro in the consolation side of the draw.

The Canadians (1-5) will wrap up the 12-team competition against Belgium Monday at 12:30 p.m. local time (4 a.m. ET).

Against Montenegro, the red and white kept it close for a quarter, trailing only 3-2 after 10 minutes of action, but was outscored 6-1 the rest of the way.

Martin Pelland of Montreal, David Lapins of Gatineau, Que., and Nikola Mitrovic, also of Gatineau, scored in the loss. Milan Radenovic of Toronto was solid in net with 14 saves.
