Easter Seals

July 18, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Hot on the success of the recent 24 Hour Relay, the BC Lions Society is already hard at work planning two other major fundraising events happening later this summer.

The Easter Seals Splash of Color Family Fun Run on Sunday August 25th is a non-timed 5km run through the trails of Royal Roads University taking place. Setting this event uniquely apart from the typical run, participants are “splashed” with colored powder at various points along the running route, finishing up covered head to toe in a wide assortment of bright colors. Quickly becoming the new “it” event across North America, this marks the first time this type of run has come to Vancouver Island. Fundraising incentive prizes are up for grabs and early bird registration prices are in effect until July 31st. For more information or to sign up, visit splashofcolor.ca

Meanwhile, thrill seekers are invited to channel their inner superhero for the upcoming Easter Seals Drop Zone on Thursday September 12th. Now in its eighth year, the event offers brave participants the adrenaline pumping opportunity to rappel 13 stories down the Standard Life building in downtown Victoria. Participants must raise a minimum of $1,000 and are supported every step of the way with fundraising, training and taking the final leap. For more information and to register, visit thedropzone.ca.

All money raised at both events remains on Vancouver Island in support of Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan, a specialized camp for Island children with disabilities. Last summer more than 300 children from communities across Vancouver Island attended the Camp.
