July 24, 2013, BARCELONA (ISN) – Chloe Isaac of Brossard, Que., finished sixth Wednesday in the free solo final in synchronized swimming action at the FINA World Championships.
Svetlana Romashina continued Russia’s domination at these worlds earning the gold with 97.340 points. Xuechen Huang of China was second at 95.720 and Ona Carbonell Ballestero of Spain waz third at 94.290.
Isaac, a member of Canada’s 2012 Olympic team and a two-time world championships medallist, totalled 89.940 to complete her international debut as Canada’s senior soloist. She performed to the song Me Voy (I Am Leaving) by Yasmin Levy.
“This is the best I’ve ever executed this program and I’m very proud,” said Isaac, a silver medallist in solo at the FINA World Junior Championships in 2008. “I improved my interpretation and added more finish to my manoeuvres from my performance in the prelims. It’s a good start and I’m looking forward to improving and climbing the international standings.”
The free duet final is on Thursday. Stephanie Leclair of Gatineau, Que., and Emilia Kopcik of Surrey, B.C., were seventh after Tuesday’s preliminaries.
