July 25, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Victoria Open Golf Society is proud to announce that Bayview Place and Island Savings have stepped forward to solidify Victoria’s PGA TOUR Canada event from 2014 through 2016.
The Bayview Place Island Savings Open presented by Times Colonist will see Bayview Place and Island Savings support the tournament to continue as the longest continuous tournament on the PGA TOUR Canada schedule, with the Victoria Times Colonist continuing to take a prominent role and continue its longstanding support as presenting sponsor.
“We are thrilled to solidify our future in Victoria,” said PGA TOUR Canada president Jeff Monday. “We welcome Bayview Place to the PGA TOUR Canada family and are excited to continue our ongoing relationship with Island Savings and Times Colonist. With their support and the tournament continuing to be held at Uplands Golf Club, there is no doubt that the future of the tournament is incredibly bright.”
The tournament will continue to not only be a highlight of the PGA TOUR Canada schedule, but a catalyst for economic development in the Victoria area.
“This is an extremely proud day for all of us throughout the Capital Region who have been committed to building this tournament over the past 33 years,” said Keith Dagg, Tournament Director emeritus of the Bayview Place Island Savings Open presented by Times Colonist. “Because of the generosity and the vision of Bayview Place and Island Savings, the dedicated volunteers who join me to make this event happen can now focus on maximizing the many benefits that flow from our privileged opportunity to host this exciting tournament.”
“The Bayview Place Island Savings Open presented by Times Colonist is not just about world class golf, it is a catalyst for millions of dollars of direct and indirect spending in the Capital Region,” said Dagg.
As part of the PGA TOUR Canada schedule, the Times Colonist Island Savings Open presented by Times Colonist will see 156 PGA TOUR prospects return to the historic Uplands Golf Club in hopes of kickstarting their careers and putting themselves in position to earn one of the five Web.com Tour cards available at season’s end.
“Patricia and I are thrilled to invest in this superbly organized PGA TOUR Canada event, and to share this opportunity with Island Savings,” said Bayview Place owner. “We have been contributing sponsors to this event for the past four years and we have seen first-hand the broader value that this tournament brings to the community and to the development of the sport of golf. Patricia and I consider Victoria our home – we love golf – and we are pleased to be in a position to help keep this important event in Victoria.”
“This tournament is extremely important to the south island – not just to golfers but to all residents and business owners in the Capital Region,” said Rod Dewar, President and CEO of Island Savings, who have been co-title sponsors of the event with the Victoria Times Colonist for the past four seasons. “PGA TOUR Canada has enabled us all to raise the profile of this tournament and as a result increase significantly the positive community impacts of the event including the growth of the youth golf program and the charitable giving component that Island Savings is proud to manage through its GIFT program. We look forward to helping this tournament grow, along with our new title partner, Bayview Place.”
“The Times Colonist is proud to have been a longstanding champion of this first class event and we are excited to continue our participation in this PGA TOUR Canada tournament as the presenting sponsor of the Bayview Place Island Savings Open,” said David Whitman, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Times Colonist.
The 2014 Bayview Place Island Savings Open will take place June 2 – 8 at the Uplands Golf Course.
