August 3, 2013, Ottawa, ON (ISN) – In recognition of the belief that good sport can make a great difference, the 2013 Canada Summer Games Host Society has declared the 2013 Canada Summer Games a True Sport Event. The Canada Games Council and True Sport share a common goal – to inspire youth to practice values-based sport.
From August 2 to 17, approximately 4,000 athletes will gather from across Canada to compete in the largest national multi-sport event for young athletes.
True Sport is proud to be working with the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke to help athletes live the True Sport Principles during and after the Games.
Athletes, coaches and officials will pledge their commitment to the True Sport Principles as part of the opening ceremonies.
A True Sport outreach booth will be set up at the athletes’ village for athletes to learn about values-based sport initiatives and get involved.
A True Sport Photo Challenge will engage athletes and participants to capture and share their favourite True Sport Games moments for a chance to win a True Sport prize pack.
