MONTREAL – Sarah Wang, a member of the McGill University Rowing Club, is heading to the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke.
The 5-foot-3 microbiology and immunology sophomore from Burlington, Ont., will serve as one of two coxswains for the Quebec provincial team at the rowing competition, scheduled to be held on Lac Magog, Aug. 13-17. She is slated to coxie the men’s eight.
“I literally could not have come this far without the McGill rowing team,” said Wang, who will turn 20 years old on Aug. 13. “I’m really glad that I randomly decided to try out for crew in freshmen year. I want to thank Philip Hedrei and Brent Hopkins for being amazing coaches at McGill.”
The Games, scheduled from Aug. 2-17, features more than 4,200 up-and-comers in 20 different sports competing for their provinces and territories. Presented every two years (alternating between Winter and Summer Games), in a different province or territory, the Games have united, since their start, more than 100 000 athletes.
