Rhys del Valle – Team BC Assistant Coach

August 7, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – Three local teens will race for Team BC in the Olympic sport of Sprint CanoeKayak at Canada Summer Games 2013. Victoria’s Elias del Valle, Isobel Glover and Patrick Dann have been selected to Team BC to compete from August 11th to 17th, in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

It’s been a busy summer for these successful athletes. Dann, Glover and del Valle have taken part in several trials, selections and training camps in preparation for the Games. Dann also trialed and was selected to compete for the Canadian National Team at Jr. Worlds in Welland, Ontario, from August 1st to 4th. Dann continues to train in Ontario and looks forward to being reunited with his teammates in Sherbrooke this weekend.

“These are the first multi-discipline games I’ve attended, and I’m excited to be taking part.” says del Valle who, with teammate Dann, are past Canadian Nationals medalists. All three athletes are Provincial medalists and will attend one more training camp after the Games and before going on to Montreal, Quebec, to compete for their home clubs at the 2013 Canadian Sprint CanoeKayak Championships from August 27th to 31st.

September will see them returned to their training along our own Gorge waterway and looking towards future competitive goals.
