August 8, 2013, Lanford, BC (ISN) – Western Speedway hosted another great night of racing with the Steve Copp Construction sponsored Wednesday Night Fever with the Hornet Series. Again they ran three Trophy Dashes, nine Heat races, a B-Main event, and the Feature event of the night.

Trophy Dash wins went to Real Fournier, Kevin Dawson, and Cam Stanfield. Heat race wins were taken by Chris Davis, Kevin Dawson, Cam Stanfield with two, Marty Anctil with two, Ryan Turko, Mike Halls, and Phil Lagan.

Ten cars lined up to take the green flag for the start of the B-Main led by Real Fournier and Ashley Creed on the front row. By lap two, Fournier had the lead followed by Chris Davis and Sam Lagan. On lap six, Davis jumped into the lead dropping Fournier back to second and in a tight battle with Lagan and Kevin Dawson. On lap eight, Lagan took over the second spot with Dawson taking the third spot. Daen Barry and Dawson got together a bit as they were fighting for position and both drivers entered the pits. When the dust settled, Davis held on for the win followed by Lagan, Trevor Copp, and Bill Peacey taking the four transfer positions.

Dave Featherby and Mike Halls led fifteen cars to the green flag for thirty laps of racing in the Hornet Feature event and before one lap was complete as three drivers got tangled up heading out of turn four. All cars were able to continue for a complete restart. On the restart, Mike Halls jumped into the early lead followed by Featherby and Bailey Walker. By lap five Walker moved into the second spot while Cam Stanfield moved into third. The yellow came out as Daryl Cahill, who had car problems all night, brought his car to a stop on turn four when the motor blew up. On the double file restart, Stanfield chose to go to the outside of Halls on the front row. With the drop of the green flag, Stanfield quickly took the lead while Ryan Smith pulled into the second spot. By lap thirteen Stanfield and Smith had a big lead on the rest of the field. As they were going through lapped traffic on lap eighteen Stanfield managed to get some room between him and Smith as they were bumper to bumper most of the middle laps. By lap twenty-three, Smith was able to get right up to Stanfield again as they were still driving through lapped traffic. By lap twenty-six, Smith got by Stanfield and took the lead and shortly after that Stanfield pulled into the pits and right back out again. When the chequered flag dropped Smith got the win followed by Mike Halls, Daryn Cahill, Dave Featherby, and Trevor Copp rounding out the top five positions. All winning drivers received their trophies from Jen Wright and Emily Constantine at Victory Square.
