August 12, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The HarbourCats ended a memorable inaugural season with a bang Sunday afternoon as they knocked off the Bellingham Bells by a score of 4-3.

Alex Real got Victoria on the board early with his 6th home run of the season in the 2nd inning. Real finished the season with a .339 average, 1st on the team. His 6 homers were tied for most on the squad and his 27 RBI put him well ahead in 1st place on the team.

After Bellingham took a 3-1 lead through the 5th, Victoria rallied to take the lead in the bottom of the 7th. Brett Urabe came through with an RBI double, Brandon Smith an RBI triple and Jordan Ellis an RBI single to take a 4-3 lead, which would hold til the end.

The Bells pitcher, Nate Cole from Plano,Texas, would pitch six innings, giving one run on five hits – Erich Eichhorn (www.allsportmedia.ca)

Logan Lombana was stellar in relief, retiring 12 of the 13 hitters he faced to pick up his 2nd win of the season. He backed up a stellar outing from Connor Russell, who went the first 5 innings in the ball game.

With the win, Victoria finished a special first season with a record of 22-32, 4th in the North division as a first year team. The 22-32 record was the 2nd best record posted by an expansion team in their first year. The HarbourCats also made a dramatic splash in attendance, drawing 2,467 fans Sunday to bring their total to 38,793 throughout the regular season.
