August 17, 2013, Lac Magog, Sherbrooke, Quebec (ISN) – British Columbia extended its rowing success at the 2013 Canada Games by winning five of seven finals today (women’s lightweight double, double and four, men’s four and eight).

Maxwell Lattimer and Cameron Howie earned their third rowing gold of the games in the men’s eight. The BC women took six of seven races, winning the flag points title for the first time since 1985.

Ontario’s retained the men’s flag points title they have held for every Games starting in 1993. Every Ontario man comes back from Sherbrooke with at least one medal, including gold in the quad and double.

Alberta’s Nicole Hare broke through the BC and Ontario monopoly to win the women’s single on Saturday, leading the province to its best-ever Canada Games team results – third for men and women.

After a week of wind, waves and postponements, the final day of racing on Lac Magog was blessed with sun and calm conditions on Saturday.
