August 22, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The West Coast League today announced its 2013 season awards and the Victoria HarbourCats are proud to congratulate General Manager Holly Jones as WCL Executive of the Year, and HarbourCats’ players Alex Real, Alex DeGoti, Bryan Conant and Ty Provencher who were selected as All-WCL Team award winners.
Jones is the first female to win WCL Executive of the Year in the nine-year history of the league. “We are incredibly proud of Holly and grateful to have her on our team. Her commitment and efforts have made our inaugural season a success by any measure,” said team owner John McLean.
“I’m honoured to be the first woman to win this award. I’m proud to be one of two female General Managers in this league, alongside Bre Kerkvliet of Corvallis, and am excited about the continuing development of the West Coast League,” said Jones, “I’d like to thank my front office staff, our business partners and the fans for their support in making this such a memorable season.”
In player awards, the HarbourCats are represented on the All-WCL First Team by Alex Real (University of New Mexico) in the utility player role. The All-WCL Second Team includes HarbourCats players Alex DeGoti (Long Beach State) at shortstop and Bryan Conant (Cal State Fullerton) as one of five starting pitchers. Ty Provencher (Long Beach State) also received recognition for his pitching as the HarbourCats’ All-WCL Honourable Mention.
“These young men put a lot of work into the team this year, on and off the field, and we’re pleased to have them recognized by the league for their effort,” said McLean, “These honours are well deserved and reflect the high calibre of baseball being brought to Victoria.”
