August 23, 2013, VICTORIA, BC (ISN) – University of Victoria Vikes Phil Mack, Nathan Hirayama and Sean Duke compliment Canada’s 23-man squad that will be looking to secure a seed for the America’s in the 2015 Rugby World Cup, hosted in England. Canada will face the United States in a winner-takes-all match up on Aug. 24 at BMO Field in Toronto.

World Cup qualifications stack in favour of Canada, as the home team needs only a win, tie or loss by 17-points or less. On Aug. 17, Canada earned a 27-9 victory over the United States in the first of the two-game series. Vikes Scrum-half Mack earned a try and has become an evolving fixture on the international stage along with Vikes alumni Duke and Hirayama.

Despite a Canadian victory, head coach Kieran Crowley will lose the services of veterans Jamie Cudmore and Ryan Hamilton due to injuries sustained during the match. Vancouver’s Ryan Hotson will fill in for Cudmore while Ray Barkwill will fill in as hooker for Hamilton. Despite losses up front, Canada’s back seven will remain unchanged, having scored all 27-points in their previous match.

With a 2015 Rugby World Cup berth on the line, Team Canada will face its biggest test of the season Aug. 24. The match will take place at 1:00pm and is available to view on TSN2. A live stream will also be available through www.irb.com
