August 28, 2013, Edmonton, AB (ISN)  – The University of Calgary Dinos have won a record five consecutive Canada West football championships and, despite the many who have graduated during that time and moved or turned pro, conference coaches still see them as the team to beat in 2013.

The Dinos, ranked #3 in a CIS Top 10 poll released on Tuesday, have defeated a different opponent in the Canada West final each time during their streak. The 2007 Vanier Cup champion Manitoba Bisons are the only school not to make the final since 2008.

With coaches not permitted to vote for their own team, the Dinos claimed four of six first-place votes and 47 points overall in the Canada West preseason coaches’ poll. The Saskatchewan Huskies, ranked #9 nationally and picked first by one coach, placed second in the conference poll, while the CIS #10 Manitoba Bisons, also put at the top of one ballot, were third. Regina, UBC and Alberta round out the final order.

Here are the complete voting results, based on a 10-7-5-3-1 system (first-place votes in parentheses):

1. Calgary 47 (4)

2. Saskatchewan 38 (1)

3. Manitoba 32 (1)

4. *Regina 17

5. UBC 17

6. Alberta 5

*received more higher-place votes than UBC
